The Lower School seeks a part-time PE teacher who will work effectively with the PE team and grade level teachers to plan and implement the curriculum. In addition to teaching, this person will communicate proactively with students, their families, and colleagues, contribute positively to the overall school culture while fulfilling duties as assigned (recess and lunch supervision, field trips, etc.), and serve on all-school committees as requested or desired. This is a part-time (approximately 0.3 FTE) exempt position beginning August 1, 2022, that reports to the Beginning School and Lower School Assistant Principal.

Primary Job Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and teach PE curriculum

• Evaluate student progress and complete progress reports on schedule

• Demonstrate cultural competence, both in and outside of the classroom

• Stay current with research and thinking in the specific field(s) taught and as regards learning in general, and adjust methods and curriculum appropriately

• Communicate and work cooperatively with grade-level teams, specialty teachers, and other colleagues

• Contribute to the collaborative and caring community of students and adults alike

• Coordinate and contribute to special school events, such as Color Day, Field Day, and Family Sport Night

Skills and Requirements

• Current Teacher Certification preferred

• B.A. or B.S. in Physical Education or related field required

• Successful experience teaching elementary and preschool age students required

• Knowledge of elementary PE curriculum required
