Under general supervision of the Senior Associate Athletic Director of Sports Medicine and direct supervision of the Associate Athletic Trainer, will provide athletic training support by working camps. When injuries occur, the Assistant Athletic Trainer for Camps serves as the first responder by recognizing and evaluating the injury, and subsequently refers to appropriate physicians or emergency care when necessary. Administratively, they will be responsible for the collection of medical history/consent and liability documents prior to the start of camp and documenting any/all injuries in the appropriate injury report form.

This is an hourly, temporary position anticipated to end on or before June 30, 2023, with the possibility for reappointment and/or permanency. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are as needed, but may vary based on operational needs.
The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.
Education and Experience
Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in athletic training, physical education, kinesiology, or related field of study or a combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities. Course work must include completion of the Board of Certification (BOC) curriculum requirements.
Master's degree in sports-medicine-related area.
Additional credentials of advanced study in an athletic training-related subject matter. Examples are functional evaluation/rehabilitation, instrumented or manual soft tissue mobilization, Kinesiotape, etc.
Must have skills to follow oral and written directions.
Excellent written and verbal skills of those of a medical professional.
Must possess strong interpersonal and communications skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with campers, staff, and parents.
Compliance with all NCAA, conference, and San Diego State University rules, policies, and procedures is of paramount importance to the university. All position responsibilities should be carried out in full compliance with all such rules and regulations.
Licenses and/or Certifications Required
Certification by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification.
Must possess and maintain certification in CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and first aid.
Must stay current with these certifications and submit proof to the Senior Associate Athletic Director of Athletic Medicine.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources. Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $30.00 per hour.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $20.60 - $39.76 per hour
SDSU COVID-19 Vaccine Policy
In accordance with the California State University systemwide policy, students, faculty, and staff must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or provide a valid medical or religious exemption in order to access campus. Individuals are considered fully vaccinated for five months after their final dose of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine or for two months after receiving the only dose of a single-dose vaccine. Afterward, a COVID-19 booster is required to continue to be considered fully vaccinated.
The individual hired into this role will be required to submit their completed vaccination documentation to the university's secure online health portal prior to beginning work. Individuals with an approved medical or religious exemption on file with the university will be required to participate in SDSU's COVID-19 testing program.
