Viewpoint School is currently seeking a part-time Athletic Trainer. The position provides direct collaboration and support to the full-time Athletic Trainers.
The Athletic Trainer position is a temporary part-time hourly staff position. The duties of the athletic trainer include, but are not limited to, prevention of athletic injuries, recognition, evaluation, and immediate care of athletic injuries, rehabilitation and reconditioning of athletic injuries, health care administration, and professional development and responsibility as specified in the Domains of the NATA Certified Athletic Trainer. The athletic trainer serves as a liaison between physicians, coaches, athletes, and parents. The athletic trainer ensures that players participate only when physically able and that any physician instructions are understood and followed. The athletic trainer will coordinate with the Sports Medicine team and the Athletic Director to ensure staffing of the athletic training room and coverage for all required events.
Exercise supervisory responsibility for student athlete safety and discretion in making meaningful safety and health decisions
Provide first aid, injury assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and prevention for students
Act decisively and prudently in emergency and life-threatening situations
Provide coverage at home events and practices
Conduct IMPACT testing, organization, and clearance for all teams
Develop and implement injury management protocols and emergency action plans
Provide injury reports to coaches and other school personnel and parents on injuries and status of student athletes under treatment
Maintain all forms, reports, and medical records and treatment logs related to athletic injuries, student rehabilitation, and CIF required athletic clearance
Provide injury reports to coaches and other school personnel on injuries and status of student athletes with severe injuries
Acting as liaison between coaches and athletes in injury matters
Maintain a clean, organized, and effective athletic training room
Occasionally travel with teams to away meets, events, and competitions
Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Athletic Training or related field
Current NATA BOC Certification
NPI number required
Maintain current certification and continuing education requirements as set forth by the Athletic Trainers Board of Certification
Maintain current certification in CPR/Emergency Cardiac Care
Demonstrated organizational, communication, and follow through skills
Post certification experience desired
Experience working with K-12 population preferred
Experience communicating with high school level parents, administrators, and coaches
Experience in Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite
Experience in Magnus Student Medical Record Database (SMR) and SportsWare (or similar record keeping programs)
Employee must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time, must be able to climb stairs, and navigate uneven terrain and hillside pathways, must be able to carry equipment, and must be comfortable working indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
Must have strong interpersonal communications and human relation skills.
A member of the California and National Associations of Independent Schools, Viewpoint School enrolls 1,200 boys and girls in Kindergarten through Twelfth Grades, on 40 acres in suburban Los Angeles. In September 2011, the School completed construction of its final phase of the $57 million dollar Master Plan, and opened a 75,000 square foot Upper School academic building and gymnasium. Recently the School opened a new Primary School building for Grades K-2 with an innovation space and library serving students in Grades K-5. The School graduates approximately 120 seniors every year.
