1. Maintains accurate records of costumes borrowed or rented.2. Arranges appointments with individual(s) borrowing or renting costumes, determine appropriate rental fee, collects fee, and restocks items when returned. 3. Gathers costume pieces for actors of YSD shows with no budget or costume designer. Individually meets with third year actors to determine appropriate costume pieces for the actor's showcase.4. Maintains the general upkeep of the costume storage area.5. Conducting workshops with Yale undergraduates explaining the process of borrowing or renting costumes and how to care for and maintain them.6. Assists undergraduate designers by providing research for period shows and helping to determine appropriate costume choices. 7. Transports costumes between YSD venues and costume shop locations.8. Maintains the safety and efficiency of all costume stock operations. 9. Repairs costume pieces if they are returned damaged.10. Performs other related duties as assigned by YSD/YRT Costume Shop Manager.
Preferred Education: Basic knowledge of costume history, costume design, and construction techniques including but not limited to cutting, sewing and finishing of garments. Costume experience in a professional theater. Demonstrated ability handling checks and cash. Demonstrated knowledge of costume rental procedures.
