Part Time Concierge - Evening Shift - Variable Days Off
The complexity surrounding visitation has dramatically increased and the need for diversified skills is necessary to effectively meet regulatory requirements. This position will carry out established visitation guidelines that include the screening of visitors by logging temperatures and asking scripted questions, capturing visitor data, and consulting with nursing units to establish appropriate visitation. Concierge Services encompasses the Information Desk, Children's Lobby and Screening Room.
Duties of a Conceirge may include the following but are not limited to:
Courteously greets all visitors upon arrival to the hospital. Educates visitors on the risks entering the hospital in accordance with DOH guidelines.
Asks visitors a series of established health screening questions related to illness exposure, symptoms and travel history.
Conducts temperature checks on all visitors and ensures their temperature is within normal rate of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or less, in accordance with DOH guidelines.
Politely denies access to those who do not pass all screening requirements.
Completes a visitor pass/sticker that includes the visitor's temperature to those who pass all screening requirements. Issues passes to visitors.
Provides visitors with proper PPE based on the COVID status of the patient being visited.
Using established tracking systems, accurate count of visitors and their destination. Enters visitor contact information and other required information in the Visitation Database.
Tracks supplies including, but not limited to visitor passes, maps, bus schedules, PPE, screening tools, etc and promptly notifies supervisor when supplies levels are getting close to established minimum par levels.
Responds to visitor inquiries and/or assists them in gathering responses to inquiries.
Communicates with patients, visitors and staff in a courteous, respectful and service oriented manner at all times. Uses appropriate de-escalation techniques when during difficult encounters.
Contacts patient care units to request permission on behalf of visitors for after hour visiting.
Appropriately escalates potential problems, issues or unusual questions to supervisor in a timely manner.
Delivers mail, flowers and/or other items throughout the hospital.
Answers telephones in a prompt and courteous manner, providing a high level of assistance to callers.
Properly identifies patient's belongings, records belongings and communicates with the distribution team.
Organizes supplies and materials at the Information Desk and/or in the Visitor Screening area. Keeps all work areas clean, clutter free and well organized.
Assist with training new staff members on programs, regulations or guidelines
Facilitates wayfinding and escorts patients and visitors when necessary
Provide Concierge assistance (screening, visitor management) via rolling kiosk in designated areas throughout the hospital as assigned.
Required Qualifications :
Associate's degree or at least 2 years of customer service experience
Excellent Customer Service Skills, communication skill and interpersonal skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications
Ability to interpret guidelines and take appropriate action
Ability to coach and train staff
Willingness and ability to quickly adapt to ongoing processes changes and/or changes in protocols
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience working in a healthcare environment

Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services*

Successfully complete a 5 panel drug screen*
Successfully complete a Background Check investigation.
Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).
