The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), located in Seattle, Washington, is part of a dynamic collaboration among three organizations known nationally and internationally for their patient care and research: Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, University of Washington, and Seattle Children's. Over the past 25 years, these institutions have worked together to support their mission of adult and pediatric oncology patient care services, research and education.

We provide care that harnesses the powerful science and devoted collaboration through SCCAs union of Fred Hutch, Seattle Childrens and UW Medicine. Its a partnership that gives patients at EvergreenHealths Halvorson Cancer Center access to the best providers, innovative treatments, and one-of-a-kind clinical trials. At Halvorson Cancer Center, SCCA provides medical oncology and hematology care.
Charge Registered Nurse works closely with and report directly to the Clinic Nurse Supervisor. Primary responsibility is to monitor, plan and oversee daily nursing practices and activities to ensure positive patient experiences, provides guidance to staff and safe environment. Adherence to policies, procedures, standards and regulation are required. Able to use leadership principles and nursing process to achieve optimal patient services and high quality nursing care.
Assists in implementation of department goals under the guidance of the Nurse Supervisors
Works in collaboration with the other clinic leaders to assure appropriate staffing needs are met to support the needs of the unit
Functions as a clinical role model for staff, incorporating organizational initiatives and adapting to changes in clinical care, research and patient safety
Applies shared governance principles to daily operations management
Collaborates with other charge nurses and supervisors in the ongoing development of competencies required to achieve high standards of efficiency and effectiveness in patient care and unit flow
Approaches work with passion and desire to meet the highest standards
Primary contact related to patient care issues and concerns
Primary contact for staff resource
Performs other duties as assigned
Current Washington State nursing license
Current BLS AHA Health Provider Card (or equivalent course, such as by the American Red Cross) and renewal required every two years
Two years of nursing experience
Chemo/Bio Provider Card (or obtain with 30 days of hire)
Oncology Nurse Certification (or obtain within first year of hire)
Critical thinking: the ability to practice the cognitive skills of analyzing, applying standards, discriminating, information seeking, logical reasoning, predicting, and transforming knowledge
Ability to develop clinical judgment.
Time Management skills: the ability to organize and manage time and tasks independently
Ability to communicate effectively by looking and listening for cues, asking open-ended questions, exploring cues, using pauses, screening responses, and clarifying response.
Ability to effectively listen by using reflecting, acknowledging, summarizing, empathizing, and paraphrasing skill.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
Leadership skills preferred
SCCA has a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy, and there are no exceptions for any employee who is patient-facing and/or requires access to SCCA facilities.
Exceptions exist only for employees whose positions are fully remote, with no required access to campus. As a condition of employment, newly hired employees requiring access to campus must provide proof of vaccination before their first day of employment.

The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance was incorporated in 1998 as a separate, jointly governed non-profit that included the cancer programs of three partners. Seattle Cancer Care Alliance is a cancer treatment center that unites doctors from Fred Hutchison Cancer Research Center, University of Washington Medical Center, and Seattle Children’s. The purpose of this organization is to provide state-of the-art patient and family centered care; support the conduct of cancer clinical research and education; enhance access to improved cancer interventions; and advance the standard of cancer care regionally and beyond. The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance is the only NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center in the Northwest, and according to the National Cancer Data Base, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance patients in general have better survival rates than patients treated at other cancer treatment centers.
