Part-time Temporary staff Adult Education English Language Learner (ELL) Instructor for the BCTC Fayette County Skills U program.
Hours per Week: 8 hours
Work Days per Week: Tuesday/Thursday
Work Hours: Instruction - 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Office - 2 hours per week 4:00 - 5:00 PM
Administers and interprets appropriate placement and diagnostic assessments for adult ELL students
Plans and provides ELL instruction for eligible adults in a variety of settings.
Administers and/or interprets appropriate placement and diagnostic assessments for adult ELL students.
Applies research-based instructional practices that incorporate the use of computers and other technologies.
Assesses and monitors learning.
Provides classroom management.
Maintains lesson plans and syllabi for each course taught.
Participates in required professional development by Kentucky Skills U.
Maintains student records.
Participates in retention and follow-up activities.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education/Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in education or a content-related field.
Prefer prior ELL experience.
Experience managing large classes with groups of mixed nationalities is preferred.
Experience with the contextualization and use of authentic materials to aid in achieving higher proficiency rating in speaking, listening, reading, and writing is desired. Emphasis on daily life skills with additional focus on vocabulary acquisition and developing confidence in speaking is preferred.
Successfully attains the Kentucky Employability Skills Certificate (KESC).
