Library Assistants, under the supervision of the Library Director, work directly with students, faculty and staff to provide information services. Assistants perform a combination of these duties: staff the in-person and virtual Information Desk and respond to patron queries that include use of library and other information resources, navigating common software platforms, and troubleshooting computers and equipment; instruct classes; process interlibrary loans; assist with student orientation and engagement activities for the library; and assist with library promotional activities. Library Assistants may be assigned to the Chester Campus or Midlothian Campus; 20-29 hours per week; schedule may include day, evening and/or Saturday hours.Â
REQUIRED:Â High school diploma (or equivalent) required. Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service. Excellent presentation, interpersonal, and written communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively and efficiently in a highly technological and team-oriented environment. Flexibility and ability to adapt to ongoing change. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check.
