Tidewater Community College has served South Hampton Roads â“ both students and employers â“ for 50 years. It has grown from 1 campus into a regional educational and economic force. TCC is the largest provider of higher education and workforce services in Hampton Roads, enrolling nearly 28,000 students in 2019-20. Founded in 1968 as a part of the Virginia Community College System, Tidewater Community College (TCC) services South Hampton Roads with 4 campuses in Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Virginia Beach, 7 regional centers and 2 important cultural institutions. The college had 3,203 graduates in 2019-2020, 40 percent of whom pursued degrees that would let them transfer to 4-year institutions. Of South Hampton Roads residents enrolled in higher education 36% enrolled at TCC. TCCâ™s institutional accreditation is affirmed through 2027 by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.
This position will assist Local Funds in providing accurate and timely processing of accounting transactions for all local sources of funds. Provide assistance and guidance to vendors, college faculty and staff regarding invoices, payment problems, travel expenditures, etc. This position will work to ensure the accurate and timely processing and recording of all local fund disbursements. To prepare general accounting entries, travel reimbursements, prepare and process local to state reimbursements, analyze capital outlay requests and process timely disbursements and reports, sales tax reporting, due diligence on outstanding checks and other payments, record entries and reimbursements arising from Shared Services processes. To reconcile local funds accounts timely. To prepare local funds reports as requested and prepare year end schedules.
Work experience in applying accounting principles, account analysis and account reconciliation. Experience with fund accounting and chart of accounts. Ability to analyze fiscal transactions, knowledge, and demonstrated ability to prepare reconciliations. Experience using automated accounting systems, preferably Oracle Accounting Systems.
