Crystal Springs Uplands School seeks a Debate Coach starting October 2021. The Upper School Debate Coach is an Exempt part-time position that reports to the Upper School Dean of Students. The Debate Coach works with the Dean of Students and student club leaders to plan practices and tournaments.

A successful candidate in this position will:
Direct, coach and prepare the debate team to compete at the novice and varsity levels
Demonstrate the ability to lead, motivate and teach students
Develop students debate skills in parliamentary-style debate techniques
Develop and implement novice curriculum for students new to debate
Collaborate with Middle School Debate Coach/Team to create connections, mentorships, and cross-divisional collaboration.
Train experienced debaters in advanced techniques of argumentation and tournament strategy
Facilitating the acquisition of research material; advising on argumentation and case preparation
Conducting practice and drill sessions
Coordinate tournament registration and travel logistics with the Dean of Students
Work with Dean of Students and Business Office to register students for local competitions
Take weekly attendance and notify the Dean of Students of any discipline or student issues
No weekend practices without approval by the Dean of Students
