Founded in 1952, Norwood School is a coeducational, independent day school with approximately 450 students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. The School sits on 38 beautiful and expansive acres in Bethesda, Maryland, less than six miles from Washington, D.C. As one of the finest PK-8 schools in the country, Norwood sets the bar high and is committed to educating the whole child in a diverse, student-centered, challenging, and nurturing environment, which continually promotes equity, inclusion, and cultural competence.
Norwood’s child-centered education and its very intentional emphasis on being a happy place of learning create an environment where each individual child is loved, nurtured, challenged, and truly known. As a result, children flourish at Norwood. They love learning; they are creative and critical thinkers. They are confident in who they are, and they feel safe taking risks. They are kind and caring people, who, fueled by our motto, How you lead your life matters, make helping others a priority in their lives. At the end of their eighth grade year, our graduates leave Norwood exceptionally well prepared for high school and empowered to make positive contributions to our world.
Norwood School is hiring part time drivers to transport students between cluster stops in Maryland, DC and Northern Virginia and our Bethesda campus. The routes will consist of one to three stops. Our fleet contains minivans, transit vans and short buses, so a CDL is not necessary. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 6:00am-8:00am and/or 3:30pm-5:30pm on school days. Opportunities for additional hours may be available.
A qualified candidate will provide a friendly and safe environment for students. They must be reliable, positive and responsive. Candidates agree to follow school policies to create a consistent environment between time in school and on the bus. They must maintain confidential information regarding students and the school.
Other duties may include:
Cleaning the vehicle’s interior each day
Refueling, as needed
Inspecting the vehicle and reporting any issues to the Director of Finance and Operations
Assisting with transporting vehicles to and from maintenance appointments
A qualified applicant must maintain a clean driving record and pass a necessary background check.
Interested applicants should submit a cover letter and resume to Bill Teachum, Director of Finance and Operations, at firstname.lastname@example.org. No phone calls, please.

Norwood’s challenging educational program and broad-based activities are designed to help students experience joy in learning, develop self-confidence, and learn respect for the rights and feelings of others. Embracing diversity is integral to the School’s tradition that both recognizes the worth of each member of the community and emphasizes the common values of academic achievement, mutual respect, cooperation, and personal responsibility.
