Headwaters School, a Pre-K through grade 12 independent day school serving 500 students across its three campuses in Austin, TX, is seeking a part-time Assistant to the Head of School for the 2021-2022 academic year. Regular hours are Monday through Friday with occasional evening and weekend work.

The Assistant to the Head of School reports directly to our Head of School.
The Assistant to the Head of School is part of a highly visible and fast-paced Administrative team. The individual in this position plays a significant role in supporting the office of the Head of School. This position also works with the Senior Director for Finance & Advancement, the Senior Leadership team and the Board Secretary. The Assistant to the Head of School must be organized, service and detail-oriented, and have the ability to be flexible and multi-task in an ever-changing environment. It is essential for the Assistant to the Head of School to effectively interact with and serve a variety of constituents, including parents, students, volunteers, faculty, staff, and board members. Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills, and a high level of integrity are essential. Computer proficiency, particularly in working with digital organizational tools, is required. Bachelor’s degree required. 2 + years relevant experience, preferably in an educational institution or non-profit setting.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage the Head of School’s calendar and serve as the primary person for scheduling and prioritizing appointments.
Monitor email and calls, in collaboration with the Head of School.
Serve as an editor and organizer for the Head of School’s written and verbal communications, including but not limited to the Head of School page on The Nest, the column in the bi-monthly Current, and any relevant social media accounts
Support the Headwaters board of trustees in collaboration with and guidance from the Head of School at all board meetings, committee meetings if necessary, and in preparation for board meetings
Along with the Board Secretary, ensure the timely, accurate and appropriate storage of records, minutes and other important board documents
As needed, support the Senior Leadership team with the design and planning of events
Support the Head of School at all school events (i.e. Fall Fling, Community Picnic, Friends of the FUND)
When necessary, make travel arrangements for Head of School -- preparing itinerary, setting appointments, and assisting Head of School in organizing travel files
Perform other duties, including summer projects and support, as assigned by the Head of School
This is a part-time, 12-month hourly, non-exempt position. Salary range, $22-$25 per hour.
