Classification Summary: This class is the first level in the Admissions series. Incumbents provide comprehensive customer service at the Admissions front counter and create a positive, welcoming environment for students. Responsibilities may include: providing accurate and timely information regarding Jefferson Colleges programs and services to prospective students; processing information requests; answering the main Admissions phone line; managing the departmental email account; maintaining current knowledge of prerequisites, test scores, and admission policies; and assisting with the processing of admissions applications and transcripts.
Minimum Education and/or Training and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent and one year of specialized training or experience required.
Preferred Education and/or Training and Experience: Must be able to provide outstanding customer service through written and interpersonal communication with the general public, coworkers, and supervisor. Interpretation of admission and placement requirements, accurate data entry using computer and software applications; excellent attention to detail; and maintaining strict confidentiality are required.

Classification Duties: Duties: 1. Create a positive, welcoming environment for prospective and new students by providing quality, comprehensive customer service at the Admissions front counter. 2. Serve as the main point of contact for prospective students by staffing the Admissions front counter, answering the main Admissions phone line, and managing the departmental email account. 3. Help direct prospective students through the admissions process and provide accurate and timely information to students regarding Jefferson Colleges programs and services. Help link newly admitted students to the appropriate campus resources. 4. Maintain current working knowledge of Jefferson College programs and services, including: prerequisites and admissions policies at the course, program and college level, degree and certificate options, placement testing policies and procedures, and campus resources. 5. Process information requests and/or input prospective student information into Banner. 6. Determine student college readiness and course placement levels and input scores based on current high school transcripts and college transcripts (where applicable). 7. Assist with the processing of admissions applications and transcripts, and assist with the imaging and organizing of student records. 8. Manage the Admissions webpages, ensuring information is up-to-date and easy for students to understand. 9. Assist with relevant admissions, recruitment, and outreach initiatives, including mailings and call-a-thons. 10. Ensure all communication is conducted within the established guidelines of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
Position Duties: 1. Work under the direction of the Early College Coordinator to process dual credit/dual enrollment admissions applications, register dual enrolled students for college courses, and troubleshoot registration issues utilizing Ellucian Banner. 2. Assist dual credit/dual enrollment students with registration activities, including online course schedule information; adding, dropping, and withdrawing from classes; payment options; and updating student demographic information.
Knowledge: Applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, regulations, codes, and/or statutes; Program coordination principles, practices, and techniques; Inventory management principles and practices. Admissions processes and requirements; Data collection; College programming; Computers and related software applications; Customer service principles.
Skills: Using a computer and related software applications; Maintaining confidentiality; Ensuring compliance with applicable internal and/or external program requirements; Compiling and analyzing data; Preparing a variety of reports; Managing inventory; Troubleshooting and solving complex program issues; Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
