Summary University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis is currently seeking an Assistant Fitness Center Manager to assist the Athletics, Fitness and Recreation department manage evening and weekend operations of the Universitys Fitness Center facilities. This part-time manager will oversee student support staff and some programming. Individuals must be enthusiastic and highly organized. Candidates must be very responsible and personable, proficient in MS Office applications, have strong interpersonal skills with a professional approach and enjoy working with college students in a busy environment. Positions are part-time with work primarily during the evenings and weekends.
You'll have the opportunity to:
Supervise and train fitness center student workers evenings and weekends
Be supervising manager during evening and weekend hours
Develop and assess use and maintenance of equipment in fitness center
Develop and maintain fitness incentive programs for patrons
Assist as needed with intramural programming
Be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing of fitness center
Qualifications To succeed in this role you will need:
A bachelors degree, preferably in a field such as athletics, fitness, recreation, kinesiology, sports or athletics management. At least five years of experience in fitness management is considered equivalent to a bachelors degree.
Prior experience managing fitness centers, or gyms is strongly preferred. Experience in an academic fitness center is ideal.
Attention to detail and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications required.
Understanding of recreation facilities and general knowledge of fitness equipment.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Must have excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with a wide range of student, parent, faculty/staff, and other personalities. Should be personable, good communicator, sensitive to others needs.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment. Position requires walking, stooping, bending, twisting.
Must be able to carry weights and other objects around fitness center to maintain a clean and safe environment.
