Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume): Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or another relevant field. Post-doctoral experience in designing and conducting research in the field of maternal and child health with at least five first-authored peer-reviewed publications.
Preferred Qualifications: Proficiency in qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods health services research. Research experience focused on social determinants of maternal and child health. Proficiency in data and project management. Experience with grant writing and management. Participation in diversity programs either as an undergraduate or graduate and a commitment to promoting diversity in academia.
Brief Description of Duties: The Department of Pediatrics at the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University seeks a part-time (50%) Postdoctoral Research Fellow who will contribute to maternal and child health services research projects (PI: Dr. Susmita Pati) and help advance the PI's research-based efforts.
This Postdoctoral Fellow position is designed to advance maternal and child health services research projects and help rigorously evaluate related interventions. Reporting directly to Dr. Susmita Pati and working collaboratively with multiple other faculty and staff team members across the disciplines of psychology and health information technology, the successful candidate will be responsible for synthesizing research within the area of maternal and child health services research, conducting new research, analyzing data, co-designing new studies, presenting work at conferences, preparing publications, and collaborating on grant proposals. The Postdoctoral associate will have excellent writing and presentation skills in English. Ability to work collaboratively and effectively as part of a team is essential. The successful incumbent will be required to communicate research results to both expert and non-expert audiences, including health care professionals (e.g., physicians, nurses, other allied health professions, etc.). Other duties as assigned, which may include attending scientific conferences and meetings.
Conduct research in the field of maternal and child health services research, including conducting literature reviews, collecting and analyzing data in collaboration with faculty and staff from multiple health-related disciplines.
Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations. Assist in grant writing and co-designing new studies.
Other duties as assigned.
