At OHSU's Oregon Institute of Occupational Health Sciences, we perform research aimed improving the lives of workers through biomedical and occupational research. This position will be under direct supervision, primarily provides general administrative support for the Institute's outreach team. They will assist in community outreach meetings, and science and health communication related tasks.
Community Outreach: Research and build a file of community groups and organizations to disseminate research products and resources. (e.g. training programs, tools, and toolkits).
Community Engagement: Co-host one-on-one and group based community outreach meetings with Dissemination Specialist. Tasks include summarizing the minutes from outreach related meetings, email correspondence with community groups and developing community relationships to help promote research, research products, and resources.
Science and Health communication : Assist in development and graphic design of research one pagers to promote research publication and workplace safety, health, and well-being resources and programs.
Science and Health communication : Assist in development of multi-media communications deliverables (e.g. workplace safety, health, and well-being Total Worker Health trainings, videos to promote research publications, writing of popular media article(s) on Medium.com, and podcast script development), as well as social media copy writing to promote research publications, products, news, events, and trainings.
Enrolled in or on vacation from or is otherwise registered in an undergraduate (minimum 6 credit hours), or graduate program (minimum 4.5 credit hours).
Enrolled in undergraduate or graduate program related to work duties.
Interest in science and health communication, public health,health promotion, and/or translational research.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills along with written and verbal. Reliable and responsible. Knowledge and/or interest in graphic design.
Flexible schedule at 0 to 20 hours per week from September 13, 2020 through May 13, 2022. This employee will be conducting meetings in groups and 1:1s with the Dissemination Specialist and/or Outreach Team.
Physical demands & equipment usage:
Able to work remotely in a timely manner to attend meetings, and other work-related events. Has own workspace and laptop and/or computer with sufficient internet access to complete duties. Able to lift and carry up to 10 lbs with or without assistance.
