San Diego Jewish Academy, a college-prep K-12 school, seeks a part-time (50% FTE) experienced educator or educational therapist with a background in working with English language learners to work with students in need of academic, behavioral, and executive function instruction. Work takes place in a small group setting with students in grades 6-12. Responsibilities include:
promoting English language acquisition through direct instruction;
scaffolding instruction to support diverse learning needs;
fostering and promoting executive function skills;
communicating with parents, consulting with teachers and allied professionals, attending faculty meetings, and working collaboratively in any needed capacity to meet the needs of identified students.
Candidates should have a proven track record of being able to work in a fast-paced school environment with flexibility and compassion, to prioritize and manage many tasks, to be a clear communicator, and to be a comfortable and competent user of technology. The ability to collaborate with other educators as well as work well in a team setting is essential.
Interested candidates should share content area experience/comfort in the subjects of math, history, science, English, and world languages as well as experience working in middle school and/or high school settings.
