*Position Title*: Afternoon Circulation Assistant *Department*: Library *Purpose*: PVCC is accepting applications for a part-time afternoon circulation assistant. Until August 2, 2021, this position will work Thursday and Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with an additional two teleworking hours. Beginning fall 2021, the position will work Monday through Friday, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Scheduled hours only occur when classes are in session. This position is part time, with no benefits, and does not exceed 29 hours/week. *Duties and Responsibilities*: • Provides circulation assistance to patrons by checking in, checking out, and renewing library books and equipment. • Answers basic questions from patrons in person and via telephone while working on the front desk. • Re-shelves library materials and helps keep the bookshelves in good order through shelf reading and straightening. • Troubleshoots basic computer and copier problems. • Makes change for students for printing and helps students with the printing process. • Processes interlibrary loan lending requests for library books. • Helps monitor behavior in the library. • Assists with designing publicity materials, such as flyers, signs, and PowerPoint slideshows. • Writes blog posts for marketing purposes on topics as assigned. • Mails items via UPS upon request from faculty and staff. • Other duties as assigned.
* Superior customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills. * Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. * Self-starter who is willing to work a front desk with minimal supervision. * Flexible about schedule: able to work additional hours on short notice or potentially cover other shifts as requested.
