The Winthrop Research Group is based out of the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health under the direction of Kevin Winthrop, MD, MPH. The group specializes in evaluations of infectious disease, in individual patients and the population as a whole. The groups experts are national leaders in two rare diseases that predominantly affect the lungs nontuberculous mycobacterial, or NTM disease, and bronchiectasis. In addition to NTM disease and bronchiectasis, other areas of research include rheumatologic disease, drug safety and pharmacoepidemiology, and vaccines.
This position will support chart abstraction and data entries for multiple databases, including the NW NTM Biobank, the Bronchiectasis Research Registry, and a COVID-19 Biobank. Main responsibilities include reviewing research subjects Epic charts, abstracting salient data, entering data, and addressing any data entry errors. In addition, this position includes supporting clinical trial and research protocol visits on-site at OHSU, interfacing with potential research subjects, calling participants, requesting clinical information from outside clinics, and performing research procedures, as needed.
The individual in this role will have excellent person-skills, be detail-oriented and able to track multiple projects.

Data abstraction and entry for both the NW NTM Biobank, the Bronchiectasis Research Registry, and a COVID-19 Biobank, addressing any data entry errors, & working with the Project Manager to prioritize work. Abstraction will be done via Epic EMR.
Perform on-site visits with research subjects, including obtain informed consent, perform research procedures including vital signs and specimen collection, and document visits.
Complete special projects under the guidance of one of the group epidemiologists, including manuscript review, database support, etc.
Bachelor's degree in related field
Strong written, verbal communication and proficiency in MS Office Suite; meticulous record keeping and organization skills.
Bachelor's degree in Public Health or currently working toward Masters Degree in Public Health
1 years of experience in clinical research
A working knowledge of FDA, DHHS, IRB and other agency guidelines that govern clinical research.
Experience working with Epic, or other EMR systems.
Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification
Monday-Friday; between 8:00 AM - 4:30PM (flexible and will vary depending on study needs)

This position may require prolonged standing, prolonged screen-time and lifting 25+ pounds.
