Lexington Montessori School is looking to hire a part-time, 20-hour/week Learning Specialist for students ages 9 through 14 (grades 4 - 8) for the 2021-22 school year. Responsibilities would include, but are not limited to, observing students and working with teachers to determine students’ needs; designing, executing and assessing personalized learning plans for students; developing and teaching effective learning strategies; providing appropriate accommodations; partnering with teachers and parents for student progress. The total number of 4th to 8th grade students at LMS ranges year to year from 55 to 65, a small percentage of whom would work with the Learning Specialist. LMS students represent a broad range of backgrounds and cultures.

Candidates should have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree with courses and/or experience in Special Education. Skills and experience necessary (and demonstrated): observation of students, identification of learning needs, coaching/tutoring students with learning needs, coaching/supporting teachers of students with learning needs. Knowledge of Montessori preferable; willingness to further understand Montessori philosophy through professional development required for this position.
