This is a paid internship experience. The Graduate Student Intern would be expected to work 20 hours per week at $12 per hour.
The internship will begin June 1, 2021 and end August 6, 2021.
SORORITY AND FRATERNITY LIFE (BL-SACT-IUBLA)
The Division of Student Affairs is focused on building a strong foundation to ensure every student's IU experience is positive, safe, healthy, and meaningful. The Division of Student Affairs staff and 19 departments aim to help students navigate their time at IU, providing the tools they need to be successful in school and after graduation. The Mission of the Office of Sorority and Fraternity Life (OSFL) is to provide healthy, safe, inclusive, and supportive experiences for sorority and fraternity members through programming, advising, and support focused on our Standards of Excellence and Core Outcomes . Aligned with this mission, the Graduate Student Intern will be tasked with reviewing, contributing to, and developing programs and initiatives in support of our 8,000 sorority and fraternity students and 68 organizations at IU.
Review and compile resources and programs for subject-based resource toolkits for chapters and councils, specifically in the areas of hazing prevention, risk prevention, diversity and inclusion, sexual assault prevention, healthy relationships, and mental health.
Assist with the development, revision, and implementation of existing membership education and prevention programs, including but not limited to OSFL's Prospective Member Orientation, Party Smarter Not Harder, Step UP! IU, Greek Leadership Academy, and Event Monitor Training.
Support hazing prevention efforts through compiling pertinent research, developing resources, identifying necessary educational workshops, etc.
Assist in the development of a Chapter Coaching Resource Guide to ensure consistency and intentionality in advising conversations with chapter and council leaders.
Assist in the development of an Officer Transition Guide to provide support and resources to chapter and council leaders.
Compile and/or author stand-alone workshops for our sorority and fraternity leaders around topics of accountability, event planning, new member education, officer transitions, etc.
Assist in the creation and execution of OSFL's presentation for IU's New Student Orientation.
Create content for OSFL's social media, including but not limited to health and wellness PSAs, member and chapter recognition, etc.
Other duties as assigned or desired, provided they support the mission and strategic objectives of the Office of Sorority and Fraternity Life.
Currently enrolled as a graduate student pursing a Master's degree in Student Affairs or a related field.
Strong communication skills. Demonstrated project management skills. Willingness to demonstrate the ethical framework of our profession and serve as a positive role model for colleagues/students and represent Indiana University with the highest levels of integrity to internal and external constitutents.
Working Conditions / Demands
Ability to work in an autonomous environment and apply critical thinking and decision making skills as well as access to reliable internet, computer, and video capabilities.
This position is remote for the IU Bloomington campus and does NOT require relocation to Bloomington, Indiana for the summer.
