Sayre School is seeking a vibrant, knowledgeable, and collaborative part-time Learning Specialist for the 2021-2022 school year. The position will work in Academic Services, focusing their time with Upper School students on their academic courses as well as executive functioning skills. The Upper School is a collaborative space with many stakeholders; therefore, this person should be flexible, personable, and experienced with working with students who have diverse learning needs.
An ideal candidate should have experience in writing support, executive function/management, and knowledgeable in high school level coursework for English, history, and science. An Undergraduate or Masters in Special Education and Education are preferred.
This position works with both the Upper School and Academic Services department. As well as, collaborating with students, parents, and staff. All members and teams value passionate educators, a sense of humor, a willingness to try new things, and an understanding of a growth mindset.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Provide small group or individual instruction
Collaborate with teachers and families to help students achieve their goals
Schedule students during mutually agreed upon times with their other teachers and their overall school schedule
Ability to keep up with multiple classes to ensure an understanding of what is going on in the classroom(s)
Collaborate with outside agencies to support students needs
Assist in supporting a variety of students both inside and outside the classroom
Strong organizational and communication skills
An understanding and working knowledge of the Google Suite is preferred
