Part-Time Physical Education Teacher

Roycemore School seeks a Part-Time Physical Education Teacher for the 2021-2022 school year. Now in its 105th year, Roycemore is a highly regarded, co-educational independent school for students from 3 years old through 12th grade.  Located in Evanston, Illinois, on the north side of Chicago.

Essential Functions:

• Teaches Physical Education classes
• Coach 1 season of sports 
• Prepares lessons that are age appropriate, engaging, and meets the needs, interests and abilities of students
• Designs and plans a child centered, differentiated PE curriculum and assessments grounded in best practices and guided by the National PE Standards
• Plans, evaluates, revises curricula, course content, course materials and methods of instruction based upon movement concepts and desired fitness
• Uses effective class management techniques to ensure effective learning
• Assesses and documents student growth.  Writes narrative progress reports on students and provides grades for effort and conduct
• Maintains expertise in physical education and pedagogy through professional development
• Ensures a safe environment for faculty, staff and students
• Collaborates with other faculty, staff, and specifically the PE Department as a whole
• Engaged in the life of the school beyond professional responsibilities
• Communicates and meets with families, returns phone calls, and emails and sends notes in a timely manner
