Summary of Duties and Responsibilities: The Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Iowa State University invites applications for an endowed, term faculty position at the rank of assistant teaching professor in religious studies.
The department is seeking an assistant teaching professor on Catholic Studies, with preferred specialization in Global Catholicism beyond Europe and North America (e.g., Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, Southeast Asia, Oceania, East Asia, etc.). The candidate must demonstrate awareness and use of the discipline of religious studies in the classroom and is expected to contribute to service appropriate to the institution by arranging the Supple Lecture Series, a public lecture series on Catholic Studies. We especially welcome candidates interested in engaging students outside the classroom and connecting with community resources.

Required Minimum Qualifications: A Ph.D. or equivalent in Religious Studies or related discipline - must be conferred by the start date of the appointment.
Experience developing and teaching undergraduate courses
Evidence of the ability to work with student organizations and the larger community
Evidence of ability to work with diverse student, faculty, and staff populations
Department/Program & College Description: The department is home to two undergraduate degree programs and approximately twenty five faculty members. We offer a wide range of courses in Philosophy and Religious Studies that serve both the needs of our majors and the broader university mission of preparing students to be independent critical thinkers and global citizens who want to make a difference in the world.
