
Bakery Staff Dining Services
Description Gustavus Adolphus College invites applications for a part-time, non-exempt (hourly) Bakery Staff personnel in Dining Services. Shift = 3pm-7pm, Monday through Friday with occassional weekend shifts.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare baked goods based upon Marketplace cycle menus and Special event schedules.
- Follow standardized recipes for baked products.
- Prepare quantities as directed by Bakery Lead.
- While in the Marketplace Bakery, greet customers, take orders, serve customers, and relay customer comments to Bakery Lead.
- Maintain neat, clean, professional appearance and pleasant demeanor for customers.
- Demonstrate commitment to overall consistency and quality following established preparation schedules and recipes.
- Demonstrate technical production skills which at times includes the use of appropriate math, reading, writing, and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrate ability to organize workloads and flexibility in altering personal work schedule to meet work goals designated by work supervisors.
- Demonstrate problem solving ability while collecting work related information and make recommendations and adjustments for successful task completion.
- Demonstrate commitment to customer satisfaction by providing high quality products and services and appropriate communications. This position includes frequent customer interaction in a retail-like setting.
- Demonstrate the ability to work in a team setting. This includes effective communication with other staff members, student employees, and supervisors and the ability to try new methods and accept suggestion/direction for changes of procedure.
- Adhere to recipe standards and directions by bakery lead.
- Adhere to quality and food safety standards as established by the Certified Food Managers of the College.
- Maintain sanitary work area and complete cleaning assignments as directed.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of the goals of the other Dining Service departments to ensure unified customer service and product quality.
- Provide work direction for student employees.
- Your position has been designated as weather- or emergency-essential. In the event of a closure of the College, it is vital that you report to work if scheduled. You will receive regular pay for the hours normally scheduled to work that day plus your overtime rate at 1 times your regular rate for the actual hours worked during the closing.
- All other duties as assigned.
Prerequisites MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Six months experience in baking in a high volume operation or other related experience.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to read, write, and follow recipes.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- Exposure to and use of hot ovens, steam kettles, gas stove top, various mixers, donut fryer, bread slicers, dough sheeters, bun rounder, can openers, and sharp knives.
- Strenuous physical effort at times including lifting 50 pounds or less.
- Exposure to and use of cleaning agents and sanitizer.
- Moderate to high heat and humidity.
