The Athletics Academic Services Graduate Assistant (AASGA) is responsible to the Associate Athletic Director – Compliance and Student Services for all duties associated with the planning and implementing of the Athletic Department’s academic success strategies in accordance with Northern Kentucky University (NKU), Horizon League and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) guidelines. The AASGA is responsible for assisting with the day to day operations of the academic services area, including but not limited to: advising student-athletes on class schedules; assisting student-athletes with major exploration; meeting with student-athletes one-on-one to assist with time management skills and track academic progress; mentoring student-athletes; monitoring the academic progress and NCAA eligibility of student-athletes; supervising study hall; assisting with recruiting; preparing reports for advisors and compliance; supporting student-athletes on a path toward graduation. Regular Duties • Assist student-athletes with academic schedules • Prepare academic reports for athletics academic advisors and the compliance office • Monitor academic progress of student-athletes • Supervise study hall and academic lab • Assist in organization of programming for academically at-risk student-athletes Occasional Duties • Assist with academic recognition events • Organize special projects such as major exploration sessions, online course sessions, athletics mentoring program, etc. • Other duties as assigned.
