The Indiana Memorial Union (IMU) is located at the heart of the Indiana University Bloomington campus. Whether as a home away from home for the IU community or a gateway for visitors, the IMU welcomes all. Each year thousands of students, conference attendees, wedding guests, visiting relatives, faculty, and more enjoy the amenities the IMU has to offer.
The IMU operates two pay lots adjacent to and across from the building, used by visitors to the building or campus, and for special events at the IU Auditorium.
The Parking Attendant is responsible for ringing up customers properly, making change, and providing good customer service in all situations. The Parking Attendant is frequently the last employee interaction a visitor to the IMU will have; as such, they need to manage customer interactions with tact and a friendly demeanor. Troubleshoots and repairs ticket dispensers and gate equipment as necessary, and reports any malfunctions to the on-duty supervisor. This position operates with minimal direct supervision.
High school diploma or GED and currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University.
Ability to learn cash handling procedures/preparing deposits. Ability to maintain professionalism when dealing with difficult or irate customers.
Cash handling and customer service experience.
Working Conditions / Demands
This position requires remaining stationary for long periods of time in the parking booth. This role requires the ability to work on a computer and manipulate a keyboard and cash register. This position is required to patrol the parking lot.
