Tidewater Community College seeks applications for General Maintenance Workers on all all four of our campuses: Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Virginia Beach. These part-time positions performs preventive maintenance to included tasks of unskilled plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting as directed by the supervisor to ensure the appropriate appearance and maintenance of the buildings and grounds of Tidewater Community College Campuses. This position is considered âœdesignated personnelâ as defined by TCC Policy 1401 and maybe required to work during an emergency or other times when the college campus is closed. Functional Responsibilities: Job duties shall include, but are not limited to, basic carpentry, plumbing, painting, lock repair, snow/ice removal, and general maintenance. Assist co-workers as directed. Utilize state vehicle to pick-up, deliver, and move equipment and supplies. Work outside schedule hours as requested. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Basic knowledge of maintenance techniques/practices and equipment.
Basic experience in one of the skill trades
Skill in the use of hand tools and power tools.
Knowledge of safety practices in skilled trades
Ability to understand directions and to work independently
Ability to work in a team environment
Ability to read and write
Basic computer skills
Ability to lift objects weighting up to 50 lbs
Valid Driver's License
