Student Central provides a high level service delivery philosophy and functions as a central operational unit for student support services on the SE campus. Cross trained staff perform a variety of complex duties involving the interpretation, dissemination, evaluation, and problem-solving of student services and information for students, the general public, staff, and faculty (clients). The areas include, but are not limited to: financial aid, registration, financial literacy, student accounts, and other university-related services. Forms of interaction with clients include in-person, phones, and email. Often issues and questions are more complex and/or urgent and cannot be completed through online transactions.
This position's main responsibility is serving as a customer service representative for the Student Central office for student services. Offices included in Student Central are: the Office of the Bursar, the Office of Financial Aid, and the Office of the Registrar. Primary responsibilities are answering detailed questions regarding student accounts, tuition and fees, billing, fee assessment, registration, drop/add, transcripts, financial aid, student deadlines, and related enrollment management departments. This position will also accept and process payments on student accounts, which includes operating a cashier drawer and balancing it daily. This position will provide outreach to students and assist with enrollment management initiatives. Other tasks include, but are not limited to, counting money, shredding, data entry, duplicating, faxing, and communicating in person, by phone, and email.
High School diploma or GED.
Knowledge of computers and database/word processing software. Excellent Communication skills. Excellent Customer Service skills. Detail oriented. Ability to work with wide range of people. Ability to handle stress and fast-paced environment. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously. Proven orientation toward quality service.
Bachelor's degree or bachelor's degree in progress.
Working Conditions / Demands
Ability to lift 10 pounds. Sedentary position: sitting for extended periods. Modest physical effort. Must be able to mentally concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously and re-prioritize to meet existing demands.
