Please note: This position may have the potential to convert to full-time. About You You are an experienced upper school teacher who seeks to share your love of French with others. Being a highly energetic and productive self-starter, you demonstrate a love of teaching and thorough command of the culture, language, and subject matter. You have excellent organizational and relationship building skills, are adept at guiding students in their classroom and extracurricular pursuits. You enjoy the rhythm and energy of an independent day school and demonstrate integrity, humor, and sound judgment in everything you do. To be successful in this role, you must be able to: • Create a classroom environment that develops in each student’s awareness and appreciation for the richness of French language and culture through the study of literature, current events, and primary sources. • Have the ability to teach French at all levels, from introductory to AP, as well as the ability to teach French at the upper school level (Classes 9-12) • Prepare and deliver lessons to students on topics outlined in the school curriculum • Evaluate and grade students' class work, performance, assignments, and papers • Compile, administer, and grade examinations • Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records • Prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts • Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions • Collaborate with colleagues to address teaching and research issues • Serve on academic or administrative committees that deal with School policies, departmental matters, and academic issues • Act as an advisor to students and participate in campus and community events • Serve on academic or administrative committees • Work collaboratively with colleagues across divisions and departments • Fully engage in School-sponsored professional development programs and department meetings • Remain knowledgeable of instructional and curriculum trends, goals, and objectives • Opportunities to coach and/or advise extracurricular sports, clubs, or activities may exist • Actively support an inclusive school community based on cultural competence, diverse identities and perspectives, and respect for all voices • Perform other duties, as assigned |
