Department OPTOMETRY (BL-OPT-IUINA) Job Summary This position assists with daily tasks in the clinic's contact lens department and eye wear center. Duties include ordering, returning, verification, and dispensing of contact lenses, including documentation. Other duties include insurance verification and notifying patients when their orders arrive. Provides quality patient care and assists with frame selection, dispensing, adjustments, and repairs. Orders and receives eye wear materials and assists in the inventory process. Assists in related administrative responsibilities required for the operation of the School's eye wear center. Additional responsibilities include answering the telephone in the eye wear center. Monitors eye wear center email account and respond, accordingly. Monitors and maintains the physical condition of the eye wear center. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED and one year of experience in a medical environment or with medical records. Hands-on experience with a practice management system. Customer service experience. Intermediate computer skills, including with software packages such as Microsoft Office Suite. Understanding of medical chart maintenance and insurance. Excellent interpersonal skills with a customer service orientation. Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information with a wide diversity of individuals, including clientele. Ability to work well with people, and in a diplomatic manner. Ability to perform multiple, concurrent tasks in a busy interactive environment with frequent interruptions while maintaining confidentiality in all capacities of position and ability to comply with federal and state regulations. Good organizational skills. Ability to deliver excellent patient care and ability to demonstrate a team attitude. Work Location Indianapolis, Indiana - Indianapolis Eye Care Center The Indiana University School of Optometry's Indianapolis Eye Care Center (IECC) is located in the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Eye Institute, located at 1160 W. Michigan St. on the IUPUI campus. Work Hours Clinic hours are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday. This position may be scheduled up to 29 hours per week.
