SOFTWARE ENGINEER , Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) (part-time, 50%), to help lead software development efforts for research projects in application of games, VR, and/or other forms of interactive and immersive media to social issues such as bias, anti-racism, bullying, and other prosocial aims. Will serve as the software development lead for algorithmic implementation on the patented Chimeria platform and in-house expert for all Chimeria-related software engineering matters. REQUIRED : bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering or related field; at least three years' professional experience with design methodologies, design patterns, and architecture of large and complex software systems; proficiency with Unity, multiple contemporary computer programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript, etc.), and real-time embedded applications; solid understanding of object-oriented design, data structures, and language constructs; HTML, CSS, HTTP/HTTPS, web scraping, and SQL proficiency; proven system integration and software architecture skills; knowledge of modern software development practices and engineering tools; ability to work effectively in a team-based environment across all levels; strong project management, analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, relationship-management, leadership, and verbal and written communication and presentation skills; meticulous attention to detail; discretion and judgment with confidential information/issues; and ability to communicate collaboratively at the highest technical levels, coordinate software development efforts among multiple technical members, and launch and deliver IT projects on time and within budget. PREFERRED : professional experience in the full software development cycle (requirements analysis, conceptual and functional design, implementation, testing, and deployment); and knowledge of modern software development practices (continuous integration, style guides, code reviews, unit testing) and tools (e.g., Git, Travis, Sentry, UptimeRobot).
