Join our AAALAC-accredited facility and help maintain research animals and the facility in compliance with standard operating procedures (SOP) and USDA standards under moderate supervision. Assist in surgical rooms, assist with animal surgical prep and monitoring, and maintain medical records. Perform husbandry duties and facility maintenance as needed.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
High School diploma or G.E.D.; Registered Veterinary Technicians and candidates with research experience or AALAS certification preferred
Must read, write and understand English
Computer skills at the intermediate level – i.e., competency to navigate all email functions, proficiency with MS word and basic Excel functions
Education and handling experience with large animals – especially dogs and pigs – preferably 2 years working experience.
Perform routine tasks associated with animal care within the facility. Tasks completed within required time frame.
Complete paperwork and procedures associated with the receipt, identification, and daily observation of research animals.
Responsible for routine feeding and watering of research animals and the sanitation of animal enclosures and pens. Makes general observations to assess animals’ health and documents observations. Alerts supervisory personnel of any suspicious condition.
Maintain facilities in a neat and sanitary condition. Responsible for the maintenance of current and accurate records of sanitation schedules.
Assess inventory supply and alerts supervisory personnel of expected shortages.
Interact with internal company and outside veterinary, medical, and/or surgical personnel
Practice effective communication with peers and other company employees to facilitate the smooth operation of the facility.
Must demonstrate ability to work and think independently to solve procedural or operational problems within the work area. May also work with more direct guidance as necessary from veterinary, supervisory or other company personnel.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Additional Salary Information: Hourly Rate to increase depending on qualifications.
