Spanish Teacher - Lower School

The Long Ridge School, an independent school for children age 2 to grade 5, is seeking a part-time Spanish Teacher. 

The Spanish teacher is responsible for developing an engaging curriculum that will build a solid foundation for proficiency in Spanish as well as an increased understanding of the culture and heritage of Spanish-speaking communities around the world. 

The successful candidate will be a nurturing flexible person with a strong background in Spanish language instruction and an understanding of the developmental needs of children. They should be able to communicate effectively with students, parents, and peers as well as be able to employ a variety of instructional techniques to engage young learners. The successful candidate will have a commitment to our school’s mission, to working collaboratively with others, and to upholding the values of the school community.

As the Spanish Teacher at The Long Ridge School, you will:

• Establish an environment that fosters risk-taking, a growth mindset, a sense of belonging
• Ensure students achieve key learning outcomes by targeting instruction to address individual student needs
• Work collaboratively with classroom teachers and other specialist teachers to ensure integration of themes across disciplines
• Communicate regularly with classroom teachers about students progress
• Write twice-yearly assessments of students’ progress
• Be an active member of the LRS community
