Position Summary The Laboratory Technologist will work in Renal Histopathology Laboratory performing a wide range of histology techniques including but not limited to tissue processing, embedding; tissue sectioning including paraffin and frozen, and EM electron microscopy (EM) ultra thin sections; staining (H&E, specials, IHC, and IF) and coverslipping. The incumbent will analyze, resolve, and trouble-shoot day-to-day laboratory tasks as needed, as well as facilitate trouble shooting and resolution of routine technical issues. He/She will also assist in setting up, evaluating, and trouble-shooting new techniques, policies and procedures and assist in the training of new hires and other Support Staff employees. The technologist will assess and maintain laboratory equipment i.e. tissue processors, stainers, coverslippers, and other related equipment. The incumbent will successfully carry out and maintain QA/QC policies and procedures. The incumbent will also maintain statistical records and other related records pertaining to the laboratory.
