West Virginia University Institute of Technology (WVU Tech), part of the WVU system of campuses located in Beckley, WV, is currently inviting applications for the position of STEM Coordinator.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Develop partnerships with on-campus faculty as well as state and national partners to strengthen opportunities for program participants in STEM fields.
Develop and oversee a robotics program for participants.
Research new tools for participant engagement and delivery of services.
Assist with the planning of and attend Monthly Meetings with program participants Sessions.
Assist with the planning of and execution of the six-week on-campus summer program.
Supervise program participants during program related events on campus as well as off campus activities such as college campus tours, cultural enrichment trips, etc.
Lead sessions on STEM topics during Monthly Meetings; in person and virtually.
Secure speakers in the STEM fields for Monthly Meetings as well as Summer Program.
Enter student contacts and other documentation in program database as need for the Annual Performance Report to the U.S. Department of Education.
Assist with virtual tutoring of STEM subjects with program participants.
Other duties as assigned.
Work Hours : 25 Hours per Week
Pay Grade : 15
This is an 11 month position, which the contract dates are September through July. This position will not work in August. The department is interested in hiring for this position immediately.
Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics, Engineering or Science-related field.
Two (2) years of experience working with high school students.
Experience working with low-income and first-generation high school students preferred.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Ability to utilize technology effectively.
Willingness to work evenings, nights, and weekends is crucial to the program success.
Valid driver's license.
