The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), located in Seattle, Washington, is part of a dynamic collaboration among three organizations known nationally and internationally for their patient care and research: Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, University of Washington, and Seattle Children's. Over the past 25 years, these institutions have worked together to support their mission of adult and pediatric oncology patient care services, research and education. This position will perform all functions related to roles and responsibilities as a dental assistant in the Oral Medicine Service in the management of medically complex patients, including but not limited to chairside dental assisting, exposing digital panoramic and intraoral x-rays, exam room and dental set up, cleaning and turn over, maintenance of the dental units and the Panoramic digital and intraoral x-ray units, computers and monitors; all dental instruments and equipment, consent, review of systems, medication list review and reconciliation, photography, intake, assisting with all elements of each examination type. Chart documentation for procedures. Shift Schedule: M, W, Th, F 8AM-4:30PM Responsibilities - Perform all dental assistant duties and responsibilities in the context of patient medical condition and current medical status
- Assemble all information required for patient intake, review of systems and medication list, UW and photography consents
- Assess patient oral condition relative to the medial condition and status prior to x-rays and OM visits
- Expose digital and intraoral x-rays
- Perform all maintenance and administrative duties ad detailed above
- Perform other tasks/ responsibilities as required (e.g., form completion, room turnover, phones and assistance as needed)
Qualifications - Certified Dental Assistant
- Washington State Dental Assistant Registration
- Current BLS AHA Health Provider Card (or equivalent course, such as by the American Red Cross) and renewal required every two years (BLS PSV required by law for this position)
- 5 years of clinical dental assisting experience
- Clinical excellence strong, consistent, effective skills
- Ability to provide meaningful education, information and motivation, concepts and skills
- Possess integrity; Be reliable, flexible, timely and motivated; provide accurate information, efficient with time and motion; focused and attentive to detail.
- Excellent rapport and ability to connect with patients, family, staff and Faculty, empathetic
- Supportive and engaged with the roles and mission of the SCCA, Oral Medicine Service
