Menlo School has developed a hybrid classroom model of in-person and virtual instruction to be employed during the COVID-19 pandemic. In this model, some faculty may teach from home using Zoom while their students meet in a classroom at school. We are looking for Classroom Monitors who will manage students in the classroom while a Teacher provides instruction remotely.
Our ideal candidates enjoy interacting positively with teenagers, can learn to successfully operate classroom technology tools, can supervise teenagers effectively, and will reliably carry out the following responsibilities.
Although Classroom Monitors will be needed Monday thru Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. during times when our hybrid model is active, the number of hours worked per week will depend on a candidate's availability. Candidates who are comfortable with a flexible and potentially-shifting schedule will be best for these roles.
Attend tech training sessions and operate the classroom Zoom carts and microphone system.
Remain with students in the classroom during the entire class period. Occasional outdoor classes.
Facilitate class discussions with "in person" students by managing the class microphone system.
Supervise students on their way in and out of the classroom and throughout the class period to ensure that they are maintaining social distancing rules. Remind students to clean table surfaces before leaving.
Be present on campus between classes and during lunch to ensure that students are social distancing.
Follow and model all campus health and safety protocols, including regular testing, wearing a mask, maintaining social distance and frequent hand washing.
Not required, but a plus: Attend training on the school's learning management system (Canvas) and assist teachers by uploading course documents and resources.
High school diploma or equivalent. Some college preferred.
Dependable, responsible adult.
Must undergo a fingerprint background check and a Tuberculosis risk assessment pre-employment.
