Provide the full range of screening and diagnostic evaluations (behavioral, physiologic and electrophysiologic) of the auditory system appropriate to neonates, infants and children including automated auditory brainstem response, visual reinforcement audiometry, conditioned play audiometry, standard pure tone audiometry, diagnostic auditory brainstem response, otoacoustic emissions, and detailed middle ear evaluation including otoscopy, tympanometry and measurement of acoustic reflexes.
Provide analysis and interpretation of test results along with implications and recommendations for communicative, educational and cognitive development, implications for family/caregivers, staff, medical providers and educational agencies. Provide referrals to appropriate medical specialists, early intervention providers, Oregon EHDI and community providers of intervention services for hearing impaired and deaf children. Provide documentation of screening, diagnostic testing, and recommendations to the Oregon Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) program.
Provide treatment services for infants and children with hearing loss when indicated including ordering, programming, and verification of hearing technology. Provide counseling for patients and caregivers regarding hearing device use, care, maintenance, and realistic expectations.
Assist in the care and maintenance of all clinical equipment, space and supplies. Assist in scheduling annual equipment calibration, and equipment repair when needed. Support the mission and goals of the pediatric audiology department, the IDD, and OHSU.
