Location: Hyde Park Campus Job Description: Unit-specific Responsibilities 1) The Program Administrator will be responsible for managing the new University of Chicago Neuroscience Early Stage Scientist Training Program, funded by an R25 NIH grant, which involves working with faculty Directors to administer programming for neuroscience trainees at multiple levels, from undergraduates through graduate students and postdocs at UChicago. 2) The Program Administrator will organize the program application process, facilitate all programmatic activities, initiate program evaluation, provide fiscal administration of the grant, organize Steering Committee meetings, and assist the faculty Directors with competing and non-competing grant renewal applications. 3) As this program is funded by an R25 grant, program activities require evaluation and reporting. The Program Administrator will be involved in data collection, survey development, focus group management, etc., as well as aiding in follow-up outcomes presentations and publications. 4) The Program Administrator will communicate and work with administrative offices across campus, including within the College and graduate programs in all 4 Divisions (Biological Sciences, Humanities, Physical Sciences, and Social Sciences Divisions). 5) Respond to inquiries with general information regarding the other graduate training programs run out of the Center including the NIH PREP and IMSD Programs. 6) Create databases to track incoming application materials, set up student interviews, and follow up with the applicants. 7) Oversee and maintain the physical office space, ordering equipment repairs and upgrades. 8) Process invoices, travel and expense reimbursements for the Section. 9) Serve as a resource in interpreting University policies and guidelines. 10) Serve as a liaison to the University community regarding administrative issues such as finances, non-academic personnel, communications, and other relevant correspondence. 11) Compose correspondence, create seminar announcements, brochures, presentations and manuscripts, and maintain the program website. 12) Assist in preparing grant applications, progress reports and other documents as needed. Preferred Qualifications Education 1) Bachelor's degree in biological sciences or neuroscience. Experience 1) At least two years of progressively responsible administrative experience. 2) Experience with undergraduate, graduate student or postdoc training programs. 3) Experience in an academic research environment. 4) Proficiency with word processing applications and spreadsheets and databases. 5) An interest in supporting diversity initiatives and underrepresented students.
