Potomac State College (WVU Keyser), part of the West Virginia University system of campuses, located in Keyser, WV is seeking applications for a part-time Assistant Esports Coach. This position is responsible for assisting the Head Coach, Esports. The incumbent will assist with conducting practices, motivating students, and instructing student athletes in game strategies and techniques.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Assist the head coach with overall team management, including but not limited to: recruitment of student athletes, coordination of team practices, monitoring academic progress of athletes and preparing the team for competition.
Represent WVU PSC in a professional/positive manner on campus, in the community, and at sponsored events/contests.
Responsible for behavior and well-being of student athletes while on school-sponsored trips.
Work collaboratively with the head coach to maintain compliance with conference by-laws and eligibility rules.
Act as a promotional agent for the college and team, in collaboration with the Director of Athletics, to get local, state and national recognition.
Assist the head coach with tracking players progress and retention of student athletes.
Attend meetings as required by the Director of Athletics and/or Dean of Student Life.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Length of Assignment: 10 Months
Hours: 3.5 Hours/Week
Salary: $2,500 (Annual)
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or directly related experience. Master's degree preferred.
One (1) year of experience involving:
Experience in coaching in one or more of the following games League of Legends, Call of Duty or Rainbow 6 siege.
Experience conducting camps/clinics.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent computer skills.
Have the ability to work collaboratively and positively with administration, athletics department staff, faculty, students and the Director of Athletics.
Can work remotely.
